Over 13L vehicles recalled by manufacturers in FY 2021-22

The total number of vehicles drawn in the country due to defects recorded a large leap in 2021-22 at 8.64 two-wheeled lakh and 4.67 lakh four vehicles compared to 1,286 two wheels and 3.38 lakh four wheels in 2020-21.

Thus, the Ministry of Transportation and Road Vide G.S.R. 173 (E) dated March 11, 2021 included new rules, 127C, in the rule of the Central Motor Vehicle, 1989 which determined the procedure to recall damaged motor vehicles.

According to the data, the total number of road accidents that occurred, involving the category of cars, taxis, van and LMV in the country for the last four years of calendar has recorded a decline, from 1,13,737 in 2017 to 60,986 in 2020.The Ministry of Road Transportation has formulated a multi-slap strategy to overcome road safety problems based on education, engineering (both roads and vehicles), law enforcement and emergency care.
