Uber rival Lyft fires 60 workers, shuts first-party car rental service

According to the Wall Street Journal, layoffs include less than 2 percent of Lyft staff and most of the workers affected in the operation.Some staff were given a 30 -day notification to leave the company.Hi everyone, yesterday when I was in Lyft ended because I was influenced by layoffs that occurred in the company. The layoff came because Lyft was regulated to report the second quarter income.LYFT has also closed the first party car rental service that is run in five locations.The rising platform will still offer third-party rental in more than 30 locations.

“We have decided to stop the Lyftta first -party rental business to focus on our best third -party rental with SIXT and Hertz,” Lyft spokesman quoted in the media report.This decision will ensure we continue to have national coverage and offer a smoother booking experience,” the spokesman added.

In an internal memo, Cal Lankton, Vice President of the Fleet and Global Operations in Lyft, said that “Our road is heading for the scaling of the first long and challenging party rental with significant uncertainty”.

The company said it would continue to work with a large car rental company.
