Hotel industry in Goa affected due to power cuts: Lobo
The opposition bench in the Goa Legislative Council has expressed concern that if the industry leaves the cave for reasons of power, the situation will be worse.
“Because of the low voltage, the beach belt is affected. This is the worst affected belt. In your guest and resort homes you cannot turn on the air conditioner. Every day, at least 20 electricity cuts are witnessed in North Goa, the same situation may be in South Goa,” said Lobo.He said that the hotel and guest houses walked on the generator, which produced pollution.
Minister of Manpower Sudin Dhavalar, who answered the question, said that he knew this problem, and assured that within three months, the steps needed would be taken.Lobo said that although the hotel industry pays commercial costs (for electricity), power without interference is not provided.
“The government has failed to supply unbroken power,” he said.Speaking of this issue, Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai questioned whether the government had calculated the losses faced by the industry during Covid and now because of the cutting of power.
“Already, the industry shifts from the state, and if now they shift to power, then that will be a big problem,” Sardesai said.”There is a need to improve the power distribution network. If the power purchased does not reach the industry then who will have the government?” Sardesai was asked.
Minister of Manpower Sudin Dhavalar said that the industry had gained the power purchased but the disturbance they faced had many reasons.
“We increase transformers and sub-stations, with many of these problems will be resolved. We have been looking for 1,640 Crore Hospital, for clear projects, from the central government. This includes underground cables, and others,” Dhavalar said.
