GST hike: Packed milk products to get costlier in Kerala from Monday
The Milk Marketing Federation of Kerala State (Milma), which is the main provider of 500 ml package milk packages in the state, will increase product prices. Chairman of Milma K.S.mani told Mediapersons that the price increase of milk products that was packaged would be announced on Monday.
It can be noted that Milma collects 23 hospitals for the 500 ml package and price increases will be a big blow to consumers who mostly depend on cooperatives supported by the state government for milk needs in the state.
Rice and other food products, including cereals and pulses that come in the package, will also be charged higher fees starting Monday and so on. Previously, GST was only levied on branded food products but with the GST council, including all crowded food products, rice and other cereals and non-bcelerate varieties of pulses will also be increased. The cost of package rice is expected to increase at least 3 kilograms from Monday and so on.
Sumesh Chandran, an autorickshaw driver at Thiruvananthapuram, when talking to Ians said: “With the increase in gasoline and diesel prices, the transportation industry faces a decline and we get less than what we get earlier. Coupled with this, an increase in the increase in important commodity prices Including rice and milk gives us body blows. I do not know why our political leaders including the Minister of Finance State maintain the silence studied when the central government increases GST tariffs for crowded food products. ”
